It is already the third round of the FIM MotoE Enel World Cup as the electric series settles down in Tuscany at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello for the first time since the creation of the championship. With four races already in the bag, Hector Garzo headed to Italia eighth in the standings, while rookie Alex Escrig sat just behind in ninth position.
After two Top 10 results at the French GP two weeks ago, the native from Valencia Hector Garzo hit the Mugello track for the first time with his electric bike. He managed to adapt very quickly as he finished the first session in P6, in 2’01.217. Shortly after during FP2, times went down, but it was the case for all riders. A best lap time of 2’00.522 placed him twelfth at the end of the combined practices, meaning that he had to go through Qualifying 1. Hector also registered the top speed of the session (269.3 km/h). As the sun started to go down over Mugello, qualifying 1 was on at 16:50 local time (GMT+2). Hector did not manage to improve his lap time and unfortunately came short (2’00.768). He is set to start the next two races of the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley from P12.
Rookie Alex Escrig has had a very positive start to his debuts in the electric series and was hoping to continue this way. He discovered Mugello this morning with the aim to find his marks on the 5.2km layout and rode in 2’02.766. In the second session, he managed to considerably improve to 2’01.361 but stayed quite far from the top riders, meaning that he finished in P16 at the end of the combined practices. In qualifying one, it appears that Alex Escrig did not opt for the perfect strategy and never found the right way to go fast today. He will start the Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley from the last row in P18, with the aim to get a good start and be able to gain some positions. The first race will start at 16:25 local time.

"We tried different settings in both FP1 and FP2 this morning, and I think that the first session was better. I had a good feeling on the bike, but I was unable to find a way to ride faster today. It was a really hot day as well which adds another difficulty. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow!"

"It has been a difficult day for us because we never found a way to go fast. During the qualifying, we tried a strategy that we thought would help us go faster, but it was not the right one. It is a disappointing result, and we will work on it tonight and try to do a good race tomorrow."
