Round 4 of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship kicked off on Friday at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, with Italians Nicholas Spinelli and Alessandro Zaccone playing on home turf. After crashing out in both races last week in Montmelo, Spinelli was eager to rectify the mistakes made to remain in the title fight, while Zaccone’s first podium with Tech3 E-Racing gave him an extra boost of confidence heading to Italy.
The conditions were tricky in the morning with a drying track following the rain from overnight, but Tech3 E-Racing boys were able to get the job done as they both qualified to Q2. If the first sessions started smoothly with both Italians taking their marks on the layout, the second practice was the important one, where we saw Zaccone taking the honors of the combined practices with a 1'55.958, while Spinelli was not far behind in 1'56.079, in third.
After a few drops of rain came just to mess things around before the pre-qualifying session, the track was left a bit damp for the final stage, as Zaccone and Spinelli were both looking to take first MotoE™ pole. Fastest in the practices, fastest in qualifying! Alessandro Zaccone took his maiden pole position today after riding the new all-time lap record at Mugello in the electric class, in 1'55.466, as the Tech3 E-Racing rider will now head to Saturday races eager to transform this major advantage into a first win with the team. Teammate Nicholas Spinelli’s fastest lap in 1'56.152 will see him line up in P7 on the grid. A big challenge awaits the Italian as he looks to remain in the title fight.
Don’t miss the two MotoE™ races of this fourth round, at 12:15 (GMT+2), and 16:10 (GMT+2)!

"It is my first pole position in MotoE, so I am extremely proud of today's qualifying. Normally, being fast on one lap is not my strongest point, but today we did an amazing job with the team, the bike felt so good, and I am super happy. We keep improving round after round, and I feel super good about this in general. We need to stay focused for tomorrow's races, because they will be tough, but let's enjoy and have fun on track!"

"We did our best, considering that we have our little finger broken, and we tried doing our qualifying on our own, because the pace is very important for us. P7 is not great, so we will have to get strong starts if we want to be able to fight for strong points. Let's give our best tomorrow!"
