#DutchGP June 28, 2024

The FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship also returned to the Motul TT Assen on Friday as the electric series began what is set to be an exciting second half of the season.  With eight races down, there are still eight to go until the final checked flag of 2024, and it is with no doubt that Tech3 E-Racing’s Alessandro Zaccone and Nicholas Spinelli will go for it after a very positive first half. Things started quite well for the squad in the Netherlands, with Alessandro Zaccone taking his second pole position in a row, and Nicholas Spinelli qualifying in fifth ahead of tomorrow's races.

Coming from a very positive Mugello weekend where we saw him taking the pole position and finish on the podium, Italian Alessandro Zaccone showed great potential and speed right from the start on Friday morning after he was third fastest of the combined practices in 1’40.005 (+0.040), allowing him to qualify directly for Q2. With ten contenders left for the fifth pole position of the season, Zaccone defended his chances well, and it was a stunning lap 3/5 in 1’39.444 that powered him to the top of the timesheets. As he broke the all-time lap record, Zaccone took his second pole position of the year, after the one from Mugello.

Already winner of three MotoE™ races this season, Nicholas Spinelli’s last two rounds in Catalunya and Mugello were below the expectations, and the Italian had in mind to rectify the situation, starting with the Dutch GP. He was not far from his teammate in the combined practices, and his best lap in 1’40.039 and fourth position saw him head directly to the final qualifying stage alongside his title rivals. In qualifying, Spinelli took the fifth best time, with a 1’40.150, and he will start both Saturday races from the second row.

"I am super happy with our qualifying, and even more that it is our second pole position in a row after Mugello, as well as taking down the all-time lap record in the electric class. We are working perfectly with the team, the bike is close to perfect and I am enjoying riding a lot at the moment. I am really happy to feel like this, it had not happened for a few years. The races will be difficult tomorrow because all the riders are very close, but let’s try to enjoy it!"

"Our weekend in Assen is starting well. The feeling was great in both practices this morning, but in the afternoon we were not able to replicate the feeling somehow, and I could not push as hard as I wanted because my little finger still hurts. P5 is not bad anyway, we will do our best in tomorrow’s races."
