#DutchGP June 29, 2024

It had been a long time coming! After starting from the pole position, Alessandro Zaccone from Tech3 E-Racing grabbed his first win with the French squad in race 2 of the Dutch Grand Prix, and his first since Jerez 2021, so it is fair to write that it has indeed been a long time coming for the Italian rider. On the other hand, it was a weekend to forget for Nicholas Spinelli who crashed in both races, as he saw his chances to win the championship lessened.

Race 1
Starting from the pole position for the second round in a row after Mugello, Alessandro Zaccone took a solid start to lead the race for the first two laps. Hector Garzo was coming back behind and took the lead on lap 3, but Zaccone was not going to let go his chances to win his first race with the team, and he got that lead back straight after. Eventually, it all came down to the final lap between the two riders, but it was Garzo who took the win, while Zaccone took second. Unfortunatelly, he was later disqualified for technical regulations infringement. Nicholas Spinelli crashed in lap 6 while he was improving his pace for the two final laps.

Race 2
While Nicholas Spinelli crashed in the opening lap of race 2, signing off a nightmare weekend for the #29. On the other hand, Alessandro Zaccone took a perfect start from his pole position and made immediately the gap on his rivals from the early laps. As he rode the fastest race lap on lap 3 in 1’39.632, Zaccone continued to dig his gap, and the chasing group’s battles made it a bit easier for the Italian to secure his lead, as he led by more than three seconds at some points. As the tyres dropped, he lost a bit of ground, but still managed to see the checkered flag in first and grab his first win with Tech3 E-Racing! Well done to Alessandro Zaccone, who heads to Sachsenring fifth in the championship.

"After three long years and many ups and downs, it feels special to be back on the top of the podium. It had been two races that I was so close to winning, and something was always happening in the final lap, but today was my day. I did everything perfectly in race 2, with a big gap from the start, I am super happy. We have been competitive every weekend lately, the team is doing a great job with the bike, and I am really enjoying riding the electric bike right now. Let’s enjoy this win, and focus on the next round in Germany, next week!"

Race 1: DNF

Race 2: DNF

Championship: 5th

Points: 88

"I am not very happy of course as we finished another round with two DNFs. I feel really bad. In race 2, I was really focused, I was not pushing too much and still I crashed without really knowing why. Let’s try to reset for the next round next week in Sachsenring, and hopefully we will have a better weekend."

HERVE PONCHARAL

Team Manager

"It was a really great weekend for Alessandro Zaccone who got his first victory with Tech3 E-Racing this afternoon after starting from the pole position for the second round in a row. He has been chasing that victory for so long, so it must taste so sweet right now, I am super happy for him. Huge congratulations to Alessandro and his team because it has been a long time coming for them, so let’s celebrate with a drink tonight! On the other hand, I feel a bit worried about Nicholas Spinelli’s two crashes. He is fine, but we are far from the dream start that he gave us in Portugal and France, so I hope that he will rectify the situation next week in Sachsenring."
